A few months ago, the phone rang and it was a representative from HR Block, Mrs. Amy McAnarney asking questions in regards to The Marching Cobras.  Her questions were deep and intensive in regards to us.  At the end of the conversation, she said, “I’ll get back to you”.  Another phone call came from Mrs. McArnary at which time she wanted to speak with Mr. Smith.  Mr. Smith was contacted to call a representative from HR Block.  His response was “Why is HR Block calling me?”  As usual, HR Block, hum IRS.  Nope he was leery of making the call.  Well the call was returned and a meeting was set up between Mrs. Amy McArnary and another representative, Mrs. Anne Rauth.  Thus began the beautiful and fruitful relationship between HR Block and Willie Arthur Smith’s Marching Cobras.  The calls, meetings were in regards to HR Block sponsorship of The Marching Cobras for 2007.  God is good.

After months of planning, the relationship has begun.  Schedules have been set, logos, colors, uniform colors/design, banners, sweatshirts, jackets any thing that the organization needed for a prosperous start. Even down to the bus, owned and operated by Mike King being somewhat re-vamped.

I would like to personally thank Mrs. Amy McAnarney and Mrs.Anne Rauth, HR Block representatives for the vision in incorporating the two organizations. After 37 years, it is always a blessing to even think and organization such as HR Block would think of The Marching Cobras and sponsorship.  It has been a joy to work with these young ladies.  Even though I do not know everyone’s name from HR Block who is involved, but may I also say “thank you”. They have been nothing but professional, accommodating and supportive.  The meetings were always held at one of the Gates’ Restaurants, Thanks Ollie.  About 2-3 years ago God sent a gentleman, Mike King to us with his private over the road bus.  Mike has been a blessing not only as transportation, but he has inspired the kids along the way.  We give our thanks to Mike.  Mr. Ricky, Mr. Ricky, what can you says about the man who knows how to take a piece of cloth and when you put it on, makes you think you can take the runway for Ebony Fashion Fair.  To Bishop Mark Tolbert and the Victory Temple family for opening their doors and hearts to us.  Their support and spiritual guidance will long be remembered and appreciated.  Mr. Daughtry and the DeLaSalle staff for helping us over the past few months with a practice facility.  Mr. Alvin Brooks, thank you through your busy, you have helped The Cobras start 2007 our in a new practice facility at the Wayne Minor Center.  To Ms. Dianna Boody for your assistance in making this transaction possible.  To our family and friends we thank you for your support.  To those who have booked The Cobras for your big event, we also say “THANK YOU”.
